Hongda Fan

Hongda Fan is Visiting Scholar at the Middle East Institute, NUS. He is Professor and Director of the China-Middle East Center at Shaoxing University, China. He previously served at Xiamen University (2004-2020) and Shanghai International Studies University (2020-2025). His research focuses on Middle Eastern affairs, particularly those concerning Iran and Israel. He is skilled in policy analysis. He worked for a year each at the University of California, Berkeley, Tel Aviv University in Israel, and Isfahan University in Iran. He has also conducted ongoing fieldwork in Middle Eastern countries including Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Israel, and Iran. He is a recipient of the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program. He has published four monographs and dozens of research papers. In the media, over two hundred of his articles and more than three hundred interviews have appeared in mainstream media in several countries, including China, USA, UK, Japan, Singapore, Iran and Türkiye.
