Dato’ Medan Abdullah Oil and Gas Industry Veteran-Expert

Dato’ Medan bin Abdullah is a veteran of the oil and gas industry. He served in Malaysia’s national oil company, Petronas, for over three decades, beginning his illustrious career in 1982 as a Legal Officer and then rose up to take up leadership roles such as: Head of Group Corporate Affairs, member of the Management Committee, CEO of Malaysia LNG (MLNG), and chairman and board member of several other Petronas entities. Under Medan’s leadership, MLNG expanded into new markets such as China and Europe and grew into an RM46 billion dollar business, generating six percent of Malaysian GDP. He was in the pioneer team that took Petronas global in early 1990s operating in more than 30 countries worldwide.

Dato’ Medan graduated from the University of Malaya with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) and attended the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. More recently, he was Managing Director of Singapore’s Gazprom Marketing and Trading, Asia Pacific, from September 2013 to August 2016.  In 2011, Mr Medan was conferred the title of “Dato” by the Governor of the State of Sarawak, Malaysia in recognition of his contributions to nation building.
