MEI LECTURE SERIES 2014 – INTRODUCTION TO THE STUDY OF THE MODERN MIDDLE EAST
The Middle East Institute is pleased to announce that the registrations for the MEI 2014 Lecture Series are now open. For the first time, the series, which was launched in 2012, will discuss 11 topics instead of the usual 10. The upcoming round of weekly lectures kicks off on Wednesday, 15 January 2014 with a lecture by MEI Visiting Professor, Peter Sluglett, on the topic of “Introduction to the Study of Modern Middle East”. The subsequent 10 lectures will be conducted by MEI’s research professors and experts on topics ranging from colonialism to oil to authoritarianism (see below for the list of topics and lecturers). The lectures will be held from 4 pm to 6 pm every Wednesday onwards with the exception of 26th February. The venue for all 11 lectures has yet to be confirmed but it will be held on NUS Kent Ridge Campus. Refreshments and writing materials will be provided.
