RACHIDA

Director / Writer: Yamina Bachir Casts: Ibtissem Djouadi, Bahia Rachedi, Rachida Messaoui

Rachida is a young, attractive teacher in Algiers during the time of the terrorist activities in the 1990s. Fleeing from the terrorists who shot her because she refused to carry a bomb to blow up her school, Rachida and her mom went into hiding in a small village where they soon discover that no one around them is safe from the brutality of the terrorists. Rachida provides a stark look into a situation many of us have never been made aware of. With unflinching honesty, the actors and director portray life on the edge of conflict as dangerous, fleeting and often heart-breaking. Rachida has won numerous international movie awards, including the Satyajit Ray Award at the London Film Festival, as well as the Best Film Awards at Amiens International Film Festival and Namur International Festival of French-Speaking Films.

The screening will be followed by a post-show discussion.

Registration Desk open from 7pm onwards Do arrive early for registrations in order to avoid delay of the screening
