The MEI library is the premier Middle East resource centre in Singapore. The growing collection is open to the public and aims to further develop understanding of the region in Singapore. Topics range from Political Science and International Relations, Islamic Finance and Business Practices of the Middle East to Gender Issues and Sustainable Development.

All users are required to register. For registration, a passport size photograph (digital or print) is required. Borrowers will receive a membership card. Membership Signup
All items must be ‘checked out’ before removing them from the Library. Borrowers must return the items to the Library personally. Borrowers will be held responsible for books and materials borrowed. Users may not borrow on behalf of other Borrowers, registered or not.
Reservation of Books
Books and other materials may be reserved in person or online. Reserved books will held for three (3) days only before being released.
Due Date and Renewals
Books will be lent out in three (3) week terms, before the end of which the items should be returned or renewed in person or online. Books may be renewed up to 2 times (total time: 9 weeks). Borrowers will not be able to renew if the book has been reserved by another Borrower.
Overdue Loans/Damage/Loss of Items
Fines will be charged for overdue books set at S$0.50/day per item until returned. The Borrower will be liable to pay for the full costs of the items plus handling charges if items are deemed lost or long overdue (6 weeks overdue and beyond). Fines may be imposed and suspension of borrowing and/or other library privileges may be imposed in such a case.
Any member of public will be eligible to borrow items accordingly: MEI Researchers and Staff: Unlimited NUS (and affiliated Institutes) Researchers and Staff: 10 items per 3 week term Open Public including NUS Students and non-NUS Professionals: 6 items per 3 week term
